A large shrub or small tree to ten feet tall by four feet wide, that is easily pruned into a desired form. Its handsome, clean foliage and erect trunk add a formal flavor to the grade. New twigs are often dark brown or black, adding an ornamental contrast to the inch-long, variegated green and ivory leaves. Should be kept in well-drained soil with only moderate watering once established and will do well in full sun and/or partial shade. Watch for aphids and other piercing or sucking insects that will disfigure new growth. Hardy to 20F.
